WORLD — When the going gets tough, the tough come together with new ways to appreciate the things we love, like drinking wine. Although the Idle Hour Winery tasting room is temporarily closed for everything except bottle pick-ups and deliveries, fear not: Friday night with the gang is still on — virtually, that is.
The winemaker will be taking to Instagram (@idlehourwine) this Friday, April 3, at 6 p.m. PST to open up a bottle (or two) of Petit Verdot and talking about unusual red varieties. If you’re a wine club member, follow along with your own library. If not, grab a bottle of something you have on hand, make yourself a lovely appetizer, then relax with the owner of Idle Hour Winery, Anna Marie Remedios, as she has some fun chatting wine and raising a glass.
“We wanted a way to stay in touch with our community, patrons and dear friends,” mused Remedios. “Friday night is typically our biggest night of the week in the wine bar, but for now we have to temporarily rethink our way of life during this time of social distancing. This is a way to still have a good time with our friends.”
For many, this has been a week of firsts: first time working from home, first time homeschooling the children (oh boy!), first time making major changes in the way we interact; by Friday we shall all have earned a glass of vino with a local favorite face.
